NEW ALBUMS

ok finally got around to posting some new (and old) stuff! I re-up-ed vortex cause something was weird with the last one.

gonna post some of the albums that these videos correspond to. They'll sound way better and be stereo and whatnot. this last one is kinda quiet. a collaboration between me and riley. gonna do another next thursday for Tim Perkis's class and I'll try to get some video of that. the assignment was to make something that generated interesting material without any human interaction. we got pretty close but the patch got lamer and lamer over the course of an hour and it was really strange. I'll have one more new module as well which should make it a bit more fun. -James

Synth patch videos

Started takin little videos of synth patches to both help me remember and reference what i did and to be able to show people the random stuff i work on (almost) everyday. patch c is probably the coolest one. i recorded that and will probably use it on my next release but the others are kinda cool too. might take a while for all of them to get up here cause theyre still uploadin.

Dan Bruinooge & James Lake - Cosmic House on Walnut Street

Dan and I made a house song. it was so much fun. Everything was recorded live in one take, so expect us to play a live show sometime doing this. our setup was too ridiculous to describe fully but basically i was controlling 4 different synths at the same time, (2 digital, 2 analog) and dan had bass lines, drums, and rhodes all going at the same time and had filter controls on each of them. Dance Party!

SO....

im ridiculously behind mastering and producing albums its ridiculously ridiculous. i have jams backed up from last thanksgiving that im still tryin to get cleared up and out. but i happened to finish this quick drone album on my modular and a little home built oscillator and finished it in one sitting so it wont rot in cyberspace till im lucky enough to finish it. its sorta a reflection of all my memories of korea with Vinyl Williams. (bless their seouls(woooo)) here you go
